Court rules that Beckinsale is still hot!

Kate Beckinsale has been awarded libel damages of £20,000 by the High Court in London after a newspaper falsely claimed that her career was ‘in decline’.
The 36 year old Underworld star, successfully sued the Express Newspaper group after they printed an article in the Daily Express that suggested she had been dropped from a remake of ‘Barbarella’ which it was later found not to be the case as see was never in negotiations for a part taken by Rose McGowen.
Her lawyer, speaking from the High Court, said “The film industry, particularly at the highest level in Hollywood, values actresses on the basis of them being successful and in-demand. One may say, being ‘hot property’ “.
He went on “This article wrongly gave the impression that the claimant’s career is in decline, which would undoubtedly have a knock-on effect on those who would be casting film roles, as well as the industry as a whole”.
A barrister for Express Newspapers apologised and said that the company was happy to pay Beckinsale’s legal fees and damages.
Following on from the latest Underworld movie release earlier this year, Kate can next be seen as lead in the action movie ‘Whiteout’ which is due for release in November.
